Project brief & details
Stockholm-based designers Claesson Koivisto Rune have created a new solid wood furniture series for start-up japanese brand matsuso T, which launches next week at the stockholm furniture fair. Entitled ‘Five’, the collection of seating and tables reference typical japanese and eastern traditions and philosophies revolving around the number 5. ‘We live in a world of five elements that we experience through our five senses. five is gently odd. five is not too many. five is beautiful,’ says Mårten Claesson.
‘We developed a shape that combines a circle with a pentagon: the chair, the table, the clothes rail and the other members of the five family all share this iconic shape. It’s uncompromisingly made in solid wood, by the best japanese craftsmen,’ he adds.
